James Borders Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

BORDERS, James JAMES RONALD BORDERS In Loving Memory James Ronald Borders (63) of 6498 Deep Valley Court, Flowery Branch, Georgia was welcomed home by his Heavenly Father on August 9, 2010. His final days were spent surrounded by his loving family and his many friends he had touched in some small way throughout his earthly life. Jim's life would seem too short to many but those who had been "touched" by him understood the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His gentle smile, quick wit, sense of humor as well as his love for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, brought much joy to his family and friends. Jim gave us all so much courage and hope and often reminded us in his words, actions and deeds to look forward to our heavenly home where peace will reign forever. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Deidre Lynn Borders and his four children, Kimberly Vaughan of Mineola, Texas; Jonathan Borders of Savannah, Georgia; Melissa Cook of Gainesville, Georgia; and Mathew Borders of Flowery Branch, Georgia. He is also survived by his two sisters, Barbara Jean Hughes of Dacula, Georgia and Carol Worsham of Flowery Branch, Georgia as well as his five grandchildren of which he was very proud. Relatives and friends are welcome at Flanigan Funeral Home, 4400 South Lee Street, Buford, Georgia (770-932-1133) on Friday, August 13, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and at Sugar Hill United Methodist Church, located at 4600 Nelson Brogdon Blvd., Sugar Hill, Georgia on Saturday, August 14 where memorial services which will start at 11:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at the Lyerly Cemetery in Lyerly, Georgia. The family has asked in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America; Patriot Guard Riders; or to the Sugar Hill United Methodist Church Youth and Children Ministries. Arrangements by: Junior E. Flanigan of Flanigan Funeral Home and Crematory, Buford, GA, 770-932-1133, www.flaniganfuneralhome.com.

I met Jim about 89-90, around the time of his move from Florence to Savannah. I thought highly of him as a coworker, but more importantly as a strong witness of his beliefs. He was a man of integrity, humility, and strong character and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

May God be with your family and comfort you in this time of bereavement as I know He comforted Jim in his struggles in this life.

P Sharpe ( II Corinthians 1:3,4 )

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Everyone at Savannah SSC, Richard, Bobbie, Hilda, Matt, Tony, John, Gene, Curtis and those that have retired, Alan, Elton and Tim, will always cherish the years they had with Jim. Jim was a true inspiration to all of us and we will always remember him as a friend. Our love goes out to Dee.
