Adamarie Scharbach Easton, 93, died October 6, 2005 of natural causes at Atlanta Hospice, Atlanta, Ga. She was born July 6, 1912, in Hobart, Indiana, to Emil and Emma Busse Scharbach. Ada met her husband of 65 years, M.E. "Bill" Easton, while she was violating the swimming boundaries at Lake George in Hobart. He was attempting to perform his duties as a lifeguard. Bill loved her independent spirit. Ada loved his take-charge attitude. They were married in 1932, and together, they pursued a life in education. Ada finished her degree in History and English at Valparaiso (Indiana) University, after their marriage. Bill coached track and field for eight years at Hammond (Indiana) High School; seven years at Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa; and 18 years at the University of Kansas at Lawrence. Ada was always there to facilitate their success. She planned and researched their numerous trips and hosted university events. When a boy ran track for Bill Easton, he certainly knew Ada. For 20 summers, they ran Camp Easton for Boys in Ely, Minnesota.Ada lived 50 years in Lawrence, Kan., where she was active in University Women's Club at the University of Kansas, several bridge clubs, and was a 50-year member of PEO. She was a member of Chapter CW in Lawrence and a member of Chapter Z in Atlanta. Ada and Bill shared a love of travel. They attended Olympiads in Los Angeles, Rome and Mexico City. Bill's State Department work took them to Malaysia in the early 70's to coach and afterwards they were able to travel around the world. They saw most of the United States together, spent three years in Mexico City, visited Canada, United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, and South America. Ada was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Elmer (Al) and Edwin Scharbach; her husband, M.E. "Bill" Easton; son-in-law, Darrell Benne, and niece, Sandy Funston. She is survived by two children, Richard Edwin Easton, M.D., and wife, Fran of Virginia Beach, Va., and Lindsey Easton Benne, Atlanta, Ga. Four grandchildren survive: Leslie Easton Sams and husband, Bert, of Norcross, Ga.; Andrew Easton, Atlanta, Ga.; Christopher Benne and wife, Carolyn, Atlanta, Ga., and Gregory Benne and wife, Shannon, Springfield, Mo. Ten great-grandchildren survive: A.J., Parker, Abigail and Nicole Sams; Sarah, Nathan and Carrin Benne; and Ean and Quin Broussard and Finnegan Benne; a niece, three great-nephews and three great-nieces. Services are planned in both Atlanta, Ga. and in Lawrence, Kan. In Atlanta, visitation will be Thursday, October 13th from 7-9 pm with a memorial service Friday, October 14th at 4 pm, both at A.S. Turner and Sons, 2773 North Decatur Rd, Decatur, Ga. In Lawrence, the memorial service will be Thursday, October 20th at 1 pm at Plymouth Congregational Church, 925 Vermont Street. A private burial is planned at Memorial Park Cemetery through Warren McElwain Mortuary.
