Family-Placed Death Notice

85 year old, Gerald Samuel Williams, of Smithville, died Sunday, at DeKalb Hospital of an extended illness. He was Assistant Superintendent of the Atlanta Division Southern Railroad and was retired from Southern Railroad in Winston Salem, North Carolina. He was a member of the Saint Rosa Lima Catholic Church in Murfreesboro and a member of the Alumni Virginia Military Institute. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Phillip Horne and Bill Robertson will officiate and burial will be at the Jennings Cemetery in Statesville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Annie Redmon Williams and his wife, Mary Louise Dillion Williams. He is survived by two daughters, Louise Williams and her husband, Mike Owen, of Smithville and Geraldine Wilson "Deanie" Williams and her husband, David Yoest, of Statesville; two sons, Charles Dillion and his wife, Sylvia Williams of Roswell, Georgia and Gerald Samuel "Jerry" Williams, Jr., of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister, Madeline "Sissy" Rudacille, of Front Royal, Virginia; one nephew, John Chauncey "J.C." Rudacille, of Front Royal, Virginia; seven grandchildren: Holly and Ashley Owen, of Smithville; Lauren and Jaclyn Williams of Roswell, Georgia; Jessica Yoest and her husband, John Sutton of Statesville; Rena Yoest and her husband, Chad Seay, of Lebanon; Charles and his wife, Holly Yoest, of Henderson; three great grandchildren also survive. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. A Rosary will be from 8:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. The family requests that donations be made in lieu of flowers to Justin Potter Library, Northside Elementary School Library, Saint Rosa of Lima Catholic Building Fund, Murfreesboro, or the Statesville Grange, Statesville.
