Family-Placed Death Notice

John Richard Exley, Jr. 65, of Myrtle, Mississippi, and formerly of Savannah, Georgia, husband of Sherry Diane Hutchinson Exley, died Tuesday evening November 15, 2005 at Baptist Memphis Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of the late John Richard Exley and Clarissa Kennedy Exley. Mr. Exley was of the Episcopal faith and was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson School of Law. He retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. Surviving are his wife, Sherry Diane Hutchinson Exley of Myrtle, Mississippi; his daughters, Sherry Exley Samples of Stafford, Virginia his son, John Richard Exley III of Alpharetta, Georgia two step-daughters, Tona Christine Kolb of Memphis, Tennessee, and Shannon Leigh Maxwell and her husband, Eric of Olive Branch, Mississippi; one step-son, Paul Kolb of Memphis, Tennessee, five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and his mother-in-law, Jewell Witt of Germantown, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Friday evening at Gamble Funera Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue. Funeral Service will be held at 11 o'clock Saturday morning at the graveside, Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park, East. Gamble Funeral Service, Savannah, (Phone 912-354-1616), is in charge of arrangements.
