HILL, Charles Madison Mr. Charles Madison Hill, age 73, passed away at Baroness Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN on Sunday, January 3, 2016, surrounded by his family. Charlie was born at home in Helena, Telfair County, GA on July 21, 1942, to Charles Gilbert Hill and Ethel McDaniel Hill. After graduation from Telfair County High School, he graduated from the University of Georgia and entered the U.S. Air Force. As a pilot during the Vietnam era he instructed in T-37s and T-38s. Before retirement in 2002 as an International Airline Captain with Delta, Charlie flew the Convair 880, DC-9, L-1011, DC-8, B-727, L-100, B-757 and the B-767 over a 34 year period. Charlie is survived by his wife, Kathryn Underwood Hill; sons and daughters-in-law, David M. Hill, Douglas K. and Mindy Hill, Stephen D. and Donna Scroggins; grandchildren, Asher, Aaron, Gabi, Tyler, Emily and Anna Grace. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ethel Hill; sisters, Anne Dudley and Mary Ethel Hill. Services will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel; interment will be held Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery, McRae, GA. Family will receive friends Tuesday, January 5, 2016 from 6 until 8 p.m. and Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
