Family-Placed Death Notice
SIMMONS, Jane JANE HOAGLAND SIMMONS Jane Hoagland Simmons, 70, of Jacksonville, Florida, died surrounded by family on March 29, 2013. A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 1pm at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church. Jane is survived by her husband Don of 45 years and her children Molly and John, as well as sisters Nanci Guest and Holly Ames and kitties Dot and Cheeto. Jane graduated from Terry Parker High School in Jacksonville, then Florida State University with both bachelor's and master's degrees. Jane moved to Atlanta to work at the Social Security Administration, where she retired after 30 years. She then began a part-time career at Chamberlin Edmonds for 15 years. She was an active volunteer in the Episcopal Church and took great joy in preserving the family's memories in scrapbooks. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Aidan's Episcopal Church, 13560 Cogburn Rd., Alpharetta, Georgia 30004. Donnie, I'm so sad to hear of your and your children's loss of Jane. I remember her, even when we were children, as one of the strongest, compassionate people I've known. I didn't meet your children but did have the wonderful opportunity at lunch a few years ago to hear Jane tell me about them and how proud she was of them. May her memory bring you strength and peace.

I first worked with Jane in 1989. But we stayed in touch over all the years. She was such a unique, creative, smart and funny person. She will be missed by many. She truly lived life to the fullest. Sorry I cannot make the Memorial Service. Love to Molly, John, Don and Nanci.

To Jane's Family; I met Jane when she came to work as the assistant manager in Asheville, NC. She was a wonderful person and helped me a lot. She was fun to work with and very easy to talk too. She was always willing to listen and help in any way she could. We both had a love of cats.

Don, Molly, and John I met Jane when I started working at SSA in 1966. She had a heart of gold and always had a smile for everyone. She was a walking policy manual. She recruited me for Chamberlin Edmonds when I retired from SSA. She will be missed by anyone who came in contact with her. Now we have another Angel in heaven to watch over all of us. I know she is already organizing heaven. RIP my dear friend. My prayers and thoughts to the entire family and friends.

I have known Jane since we were classmates in Social Security Claims Rep class in 1966 in Jacksonville and fellow employees at the Regional Office in Atlanta. My deepest sympathy to the family.

I only knew Jane since 05/2006 but I worked next to her little while at CEA as she was moved around. She knew everything about SSA. I will always miss her kindness and smile every time she saw me. Molly find confort in Jesus at this time of sorrows.

Jane was my special friend and cohort at Chamberlin Edmonds, and prior to that worked with me at SSA. She was one of the smartest people I knew, and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Molly ~ I just wanted to send my condolences for the loss of your mother. Jane has always been very helpful when I needed her assistance. I was fortunate to work with her on countless occasions since 1999, and she had a matchless ability to reach out to SSA offices. I've been to agency meetings with her, and she was always professional and polite…and of course witty! She leaves difficult shoes to fill. Her smile will always be present in my mind.
God specializes in the impossible. May His arms comfort you and bring you peace in days to come.
