Death: December 11, 2017 in Atlanta, GA
It is with immense heartbreak that we announce the untimely passing of Stephen Mackie on December 11, 2017 due to complications post-surgery. Born in Boston, Stephen was a graduate of Wellesley High School, Emory University and Emory University School of Law. He practiced law in Atlanta for 30 years and was renowned and loved for putting the needs of others before his own – both personally and professionally. He is survived by his beloved wife, Xinxin, mother, Florence, sister, Jane, brothers, David (Lisa) and Peter (Shelley), nephew, Charlie and niece, Madeline. He was pre-deceased by his father, Joseph E. Mackie, MD with whom he is now reunited. A Memorial Service will be planned in Atlanta, GA in the New Year. Internment in Wellesley, MA will be private. I'm so saddened to have just read of Stephen's passing in the Georgia Bar Journal. I met Stephen in the 1990s when we worked together on the Georgia Bar's Council on domestic violence. Stephen was a gifted advocate with a big heart. I am honored to have known him. My condolences to his wife and family.

I was so sad to learn of Steve's passing. My deepest condolences on your tremendous loss. Many prayers for comfort, and may peace be with you always. Steve was a funny and very nice guy, and my only regret is that I didn't know him longer. His kindness and professionalism will not be forgotten, as well.

My heart has truly been broken. I've known Steve since 2009 when I started with Noah Rosner's office. Enjoyed being in his company in the office. He was a very humble man and kind to us all. Funny and warmhearted. Not too many like him in this world. I love you and will miss you Steve. May your spirit forever live in us all.
