PASCHAL, Harvey DeWitt HARVEY DeWITT PASCHAL Former Cobb County Commissioner Harvey DeWitt Paschal moved on to Heaven at age 80. Harvey Paschal, age 80 of Marietta Georgia passed away on December 22, 2008. Harvey was born on August 31, 1928 in Dallas Georgia. Harvey was the son of Emmett & Pauline Paschal of Rockmart Georgia. Harvey was married to Carol Paschal and they had many good years together serving the Lord as the founders of Cobb Street Ministries in Cobb County. They are members of Roswell Street Baptist Church where Harvey has in the past taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Harvey is survived by his wife, Carol; three children, Angela Paschal Barner & husband Jim Barner, Michelle Paschal Kellett & husband Kevin Kellett, Harvey Lee Paschal & wife Debbie Paschal. Harvey was very proud of his four wonderful grandsons; Scott Paschal, Mitchell Kellett, Paschal Hicks & Ryan Kellett. Harvey is also survived by three loving sisters & two caring brothers: Virginia Paschal Kuehner, Catherine Paschal Otts, Emmalene Paschal Puryear, William Paschal & Jerry Paschal; nieces and nephews. Upon graduating Rockmart High School he went on to the University of Alabama with a football scholarship. Harvey was an outstanding football player & he was also a high school cheerleader. He & his brothers enjoyed flying airplanes and he was an avid golfer. Harvey also enjoyed word find games and loved putting together puzzles at the beach with Carol and the grandkids. He went on later in life to finish his Political Science Degree & his doctorate in Finance. Harvey was retired from Georgia Power after 37 1/2 years of loyal service. He also retired from Cobb County Government after serving 12 years as a Cobb County Commissioner. Harvey also was the Police & Fire Commissioner for Cobb County along with State Chairman of the Pardons & Parole Board. He was also the State Chairman of the Georgia Jaycees and National Director of the Jaycees. Harvey served on the State Board of Children & Youth plus he had a hand in writing the guidelines for our Youth Detention Centers in Georgia. Harvey served on the Board of National Transportation & National Association of Commissioners. Harvey was a very loving husband, father & grandfather. Harvey was 6'4" and he was affectionately called Big Daddy by his children, grandchildren & loved ones. He loved serving his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ! He will truly be missed. A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Roswell Street Baptist Church in Marietta with Rev. Dr. Ernest Easley officiating.
