Adam Tant Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

TANT, Adam Adam Samuel Tant was born on November 8, 1985 and died on August 24, 2011. A service to celebrate Adam's wonderful life will be held on Sunday, August 28th at 2:00 p.m. at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Chapel in Marietta with Rev. Tommy Willingham officiating. Adam was a loving son, devoted brother, cherished grandson, and a joy to the family that loved him and the friends who meant so much to him. Adam was the eldest of his cousins, who were all very close. The younger cousins admired and wanted to be like Adam. Even after reaching "adulthood," Adam always sat at the "kid's table" at holiday dinners and kept everyone laughing with the funny and witty things he said. Adam also will be remembered by all as a fiercely loyal and generous friend, and a perfectionist who worked hard to achieve his goals. Adam graduated from Kennesaw Mountain Magnet High School summa cum laude, and then went on to graduate with a double major in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Georgia again with highest honors. Adam loved UGA and along with his father and sister loved being a Bulldog. Adam loved to travel and did more traveling in his short 25 years than most people do in a lifetime. In addition to extensive travel throughout the United States and Italy, Adam most recently toured Iceland and Scotland which he described in postcards home as "totally unforgettable." Adam was prepared to begin yet another challenging and exciting season in his life by moving to New Orleans and begin study for a Masters of Social Work at Tulane University. Adam's passion was to make a contribution to others in need. Unfortunately, Adam died in a tragic automobile accident the day before he was scheduled to leave. Adam is survived by his parents, Doug & Mary Tant of Acworth; sister, Lindsay Tant of Athens; maternal grandparents, Bill & Evelyn Thompson of Acworth; aunts, uncles, cousins and many loving friends. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Alzheimer's Disease & Related Disorders Association, Inc., 41 Perimeter Center East Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30346 or to, ALS Association, Georgia Chapter, 1955 Cliff Valley Way #116, Atlanta, GA 30329. I am deeply saddened to hear of Adam's death. My own son, Patrick, was killed in an accident six years ago. He now would have been 25 also. Adam and Patrick were school mates from Addison to J.J. Daniell, and I am sure they knew each other. Perhaps they have been able to meet up with each other again. My heart aches for the family at this time. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
