Carl SAUTTER Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

SAUTTER, Carl CARL ALBERT SAUTTER Carl Albert Sautter was just 37 years old when he passed away suddenly during the early morning hours of Saturday, September 29, 2012. A man of amazing spirit, he was charismatic, intellectual and eloquent. He projected an animated, vibrant appreciation of humanity. Simultaneously tender and protective of those he loved, Carl lived to be of service to others and made a strong impact on everyone he met. Carl was born May 4, 1975 in North Atlanta to Albert H. and Ellen E. Sautter. He graduated from St. Andrews Sewanee School in Tennessee and attended Georgia State University, where he studied literature and psychology. He had a career in sales specializing in industrial and technical products. Like his father Carl was a natural athlete, and he was especially gifted at playing and coaching soccer. He devoured a wide array of literature and was a devoted lover of all types of music, especially jazz. On Saturday, May 12, 2012, Carl proposed to his long-awaited soul-mate, Amanda Aber, and he delighted in taking charge of the preparations for their wedding that took place on September 15, 2012. All his friends and family were struck by how incredibly happy Carl was with Amanda. He was preceded in death by his father, Al, and his grandfather, Ralph. He is survived by his bride, Amanda, sister, Carol, mom, Ellen, grandmother, Marge, and a host of friends. While we are all struggling to understand the tragic loss of this incredible and irreplaceable young man, we are grateful for the time we had with him. We draw comfort from the fact that in memory he will continue to make us laugh and in spirit he will continue to inspire us. The visitations will be at H.M. Patterson & Son-Oglethorpe Hill Chapel on Sunday, October 7, from 2-4pm and on Monday, October 8, from 6-9pm. The funeral service will be held at Northside United Methodist Church on Tuesday, October 9, at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charity donations be made to specific causes and organizations that were important to Carl. Donation information is available on the carlsautter.com memorial website, where friends and family are also encouraged to post pictures and all tribute comments. "Death opens a door out of a little, dark room (that's all the life we have known before it) into a great, real place where the true sun shines and we shall meet." --C.S. Lewis

I graduated from St. Andrews with Carl, and he was very a well liked person. Although I did not know him as well as other knew him, I remember spending some time with him alone in my dorm room one evening ,talking about life, etc. and I'll always remember that. He cared about people, and was a very dynamic person. Danny Baseheart
