Isabel GREER

GREER, Isabel Ibby was born January 31st, 1925 in Bermuda. She was the second of four children. One sister, Anthea Cox still resides in Bermuda as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ibby not only had two daughters, Lea and Jan but also two granddaughters Ronda and Renee and four beloved great grandchildren Josh, Jacob, Jackson and Lila. Ibby was educated at Warwick Academy, The Bermuda High School for Girls and Mount Saint Agnes Academy. She graduated in 1943. Ibby worked for the British Admiralty as a decipher assistant at Admiralty House Bermuda from 1942 until 1944. On October 12th, 1944 she married U.S. Navy pilot Dan Greer whom she had met in Bermuda. She flew to New York on a Pan American Flying boat; U.S. Clipper Ship, then traveled to Atlanta to be married. They made Key West their home until the end of the war. They then moved to Columbus GA, then to Birmingham and Mobile Al, then back to Bermuda. Ibby worked as a medical secretary at Bermuda medical Associates and when the family returned to Atlanta she continued to work as a medical secretary. In her second career she became a travel agent exclusively booking travel to Bermuda through the Bermuda Playtime agency and with Sidney Travel. She was a member of the Daughters of the British Empire, Tucker Shrine Ladies Club and several bridge clubs as well. She had a keen sense of humor and a quick wit. She will be sorely missed.
