Mark ST. LOUIS Obituary

ST. LOUIS, Mark Stephen Mark Stephen St. Louis, of Atlanta, died on July 18, 2014 in Providence, RI. He is survived by his parents: Drs. Michael St. Louis and Donna Jones, his siblings Rob and Jess, his grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Roland St. Louis and Dr. and Mrs. Robert O. Jones, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Born in Atlanta on December 5, 1992, Mark attended Paideia School and graduated from United World College of the Adriatic in Duino, Italy, in 2011. While in Italy, Mark played on the Italian Jr. National Ultimate Team in the Junior World Championship. At the time of his death, Mark was a student at Brown University where he concentrated in neuroscience and planned to obtain a combined MD/PhD after college. At Brown, Mark was a member of the ultimate frisbee team. He was also involved with BrainGate, a research program focused on assisting people with neurological disorders by creating new technologies, and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute-Brown Summer Scholars Research Program. Mark was an adventurous spirit who loved to travel; in his short life, he visited Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Mozambique, South Africa, Canada, Italy, Slovenia, Switzerland, Germany, France, Spain, Morocco, Costa Rica, Peru, Vietnam, and Cambodia. The family is holding a Memorial Service for Mark on Saturday, July 26th at 4pm. It will be held at the Theater at Paideia School, 1509 Ponce de Leon Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia 30307. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to an organization at Brown with which Mark enthusiastically worked that develops assistive technology for those with neurological deficits, SpeakYourMind Foundation (speakyourmindfoundation.org).
