Uncle Brooks was the handsomest man I ever knew, my dad, his brother a close second. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, debonair and quick to laugh, Brooks was a wonderful Uncle as I was growing up in Rochester and a patient host when I visited my cousins in Darien later on. I have wonderful memories of my father competing with Brooks on the tennis court and fighting to see who could grab the check first to pay the bill and laughing about it ! The Burgher siblings are all together now. I like to imagine them ensconced comfortably with cocktails and nibbles at hand on a lush green lawn sloping towards the ocean where sailboats bob at their moorings, with a tennis court and Master's level golf course nearby... the sound of memories and laughter is heard.
