Myrtle MATHEWS Obituary

MATHEWS, Myrtle Lane Passed away August 16, 2014. She was born September 28, 1915 in Tyner, NC. Myrtle received her Nursing Degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Nursing (1937) in Philadelphia, PA. and worked in Public Health until she entered the US Army Nurse Corp where she met and married Major Edwin (Ted) J. Mathews (dec.) Prior to her retirement Myrtle was the school nurse at St. Margaret's School in Tappahannock, Va. In 1986 she moved to Atlanta, GA. She is survived by her sister, Lois Lane Purvis; two daughters, Carolyn Mathews Peteet and Barbara Barber (Larry); three grandchildren, Brittany Peteet Ferguson (Wesley), John L. Peteet and Leah Peteet Hoffman (Sean). She had three great-grandsons: Truett Ferguson, Luke and Wyatt Hoffman. A private memorial service is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Angel Flight Soars (www.angelflightsoars.org).
