My deepest sympatihy to Wayne's family and friends. I am also stunned by his death, having talked with him only a few weeks ago. Wayne and I were classmates at Oglethorpe (1957-61) and he was a friend then and, as we began to age, we became even closer friends. We visited and "hung out" in Atlanta on several occasions and in Seattle where we visited our friend (and Wayne's former roommate) Marc Weinberg. He was a fine athlete, an enviable one, actually, and he was always gracious and funny and enthusiastic. He was loyal to his friends and to his university and to all the men he coached and to his fellow coaches. I grieve at his passing more than this brief note reveals. Again, my heartfelt sympathy to Wayne's kin and to his many friends.
Sincerely,
Joseph (Joe) Soldati

I will deeply miss my great life long friend Wayne. Our life began at Oglethorpe and we keep in close contact all these years. I am so glad we celebrated our 50 college reunion together. I talked with Wayne during his recent hospital stay and twice in the past ten days. A part of my life is just gone. If anyone in the family wishes to contact me my numbers in Seattle are 206-546-8952 at home and mobile is 206-755-4423.

having talked to Wayne only last week I'm totally stunned by this sad and unexpected news. We had a fun conversation and he claimed to be doing very well after the initial shocker of hearing from him in the hospital... but after Marc and I talked to him several times were quite convinced that he was ok. So sad. Best wishes to all family members.
