Robert Beachy Obituary
Family-Placed Death Notice
Robert Gibson (Bob) Beachy, died March 21, 2005. Born July 19, 1923 to Myrtle Kitzmiller and Arthur Beachy, Philadelphia, PA, attended Drexel and Villanova University. Enlisted 1942, served in the 101st Airborne Division, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Battalion, Company H; jumped behind enemy lines June 6, 1944, D-Day; jumped on Holland; enemy surrounded his unit at Bastogne, the Battle of the Bulge. His was the real life "Private Ryan's" squad. Worked 40 years, GE Switchgear Systems. He was active with his 3 sons in Boy Scouts and Y-Guides. Served many years as Troop 160 Scout Master. His son Bruce William preceded Bob in death. Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years, Doris Wisler; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Rosi, Lt. Col. Keith and Suzanne, and Bruce's wife Nancy; grandchildren: Heather, Lisa, Kimberly, Kelly, Kristina, Katherine E., Jason, Melissa, Hannah, Katherine A., and Andrew; great-grandchildren, Kyle and Keynan. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 3, 2005 at 2:00 pm at Central Presbyterian Church, 201 Washington Street, Atlanta, GA.
