Arlie R. Keller, 89, of Atlantic died on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the Heritage House in Atlantic.
Arlie was born in Buchanan, Mich. on April 19, 1920 to Edward August and Martha (Peterson) Keller. After moving to Iowa, he lived in the Atlantic and Marne areas. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Atlantic.
Arlie married Dorothy Schroeder in Omaha on Aug. 25, 1943 and to this union, six children were born. They farmed south of Walnut and north of Atlantic before moving to Atlantic seven years ago. After taking care of Dorothy for 10 years before her death, his health began to fail.
Arlie is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; his parents, Edward and Martha Keller; his brother George; paternal grandparents, August and Rosa Keller; maternal grandparents, Christian and Emma Peterson; and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ivan and Veta Schroeder, Janice Schroeder, Harriet Schroeder, and Dexter Schroeder.
He is survived by his children, Juanita Kise and husband Ken, of Ankeny, Patricia Follmann and husband Larry of Massena, Linda Schade and husband John of Hardy, Barbara Figgins and husband Robert of Brayton, Edward Keller and wife Sue of Mt. Vernon, and Connie Scott and husband John of Sidney. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, including the family of John and Linda Schade, Sue, Deb, Eric and LeAnne ~ the family of Ken and Juanita Kise; Ken Jr. and Greg ~ the family of Robert and Barbara Figgins, Rebecca and Brett ~ the family of Larry and Patricia Follmann, Michael Follmann and Amy Glover ~ and the family of Connie and John Scott, Kristine, Dianna, Stephen and Melissa; 28 great-grandchildren, Maia, Hailey, and Nora Glover, Emma and Courtney Follmann, Jerod, Justin, Cassie, Tanner, Ashley, and Kainen Schade, Aidan and Harrison Kise, Colin, Evan, and Kaylyn Crawley, Ella, Henry, and Kate Figgins, Meagan and Zack Spears, Justin Phillips, Ryan Bierwirth, Jordan Vasa, Nicholas and Thomas Scott, Penelope and Alex Phyne; two brothers-in-law, Lloyd Schroeder of Walnut, Howard Schroeder of St. Paul, Minn.; and a sister-in-law, Jean Schroeder of Harlan.
Family visitation will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. previous to a 10:30 a.m. funeral on Saturday morning, April 10 at Roland Funeral Home. Pastor Nancy Jensen, of the United Church of Christ of Atlantic, will officiate. The interment will be in the Atlantic. There will be open visitation from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily until Saturday.
