Vaughn T. Bowman

Funeral services for Vaughn T. Bowman, 53, were conducted by Reverend Dr. Ronald Yarnell on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon. Interment was in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon. The honorary casket bearers were Howard Lawshe, Leon Thompson, Kendall Wiederstein, Rodney Schroeter, and Richard Cady. The casket bearers were Todd Lawshe, Norman Cretsinger, Robert Nissen, Leon Ditto, Chris Vernon, and Douglas Raymond. The Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon was in charge of the arrangements.
Vaughn Todd Bowman, the son of Warren and Wilma (Ditto) Bowman, was born June 29, 1959, in Guthrie Center, and died Nov. 3, 2012, at the Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids, at the age of 53 years, 4 months, and 4 days.
Vaughn was baptized at the Lone Star Church east of Audubon and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon. Vaughn had many illnesses as a child and was home schooled by his family. He helped at home vacuuming, cleaning, folding clothes, and many other chores.
Vaughn was a special person in his family's lives. He loved everyone and his family and friends loved him. He always enjoyed his birthdays with cake and homemade ice cream with his Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends. He was very grateful to Pastor Kay and Pastor Ron of the First Presbyterian Church for their many visits and prayers. He was truly God's child.
Vaughn truly loved Country Music and Gospel Music. He enjoyed the many shows he was able to attend and loved to travel to Branson, Mo., to enjoy all the activities there.
Vaughn had a special relationship with his brother-in-law, Howard. While Vaughn was in the nursing home, Howard stayed with him every night. His mother and sister spent many hours with him every day while at the nursing home and the hospital, and his special nephew, Todd, was with him as much as time would allow. Vaughn was never alone.
Vaughn was preceded in death by his grandparents: Allen and Katherine Ditto and Ralph and Myra Bowman; is aunt and uncles: Hazel Ditto, Wilbur Ditto, Allen Bowman, Vivian and Gladys Cretsinger, Gerald and Fern Raymond, Earl and Helen McGuire, Clair and Caroline Olsen and Ivan and Ruth Herron; and his cousins Colleen Poole and Velma Hagman.
Survivors include  his parents; Warren and Wilma Bowman; his sister Camilla and husband Howard Lawshe; and his nephew Todd Lawshe all of Audubon; his aunts and uncles  Glen and wife Lorraine Ditto of Manning, and Floyd and wife Doris Ditto of Audubon,; his cousins and their spouses: Marilyn and Richard Cady of Oskaloosa, June Herron of Fort Dodge, Lois Allen of Galva, IBill and Peggy Raymond of Avon Park, Fla., Douglas and Joyce Raymond of Altoona, David Poole of Hastings, Neb., Leon and Paulette Ditto of Portage, Wisc., Linnet and Robert Nissen of Manning, Eldon Ditto of Anita, Norman and Jane Cretsinger of Coon Rapids, Dalena Makinster of Branson, Mo., Denise and Chris Vernon of Des Moines, and Nancy and Jerry Hagen of Bayard; other relatives and many friends.
