Patricia Sawilowsky Obituary

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Patricia Ram Sawilowsky, formerly of Augusta, Georgia and Fort Lauderdale, Florida passed away peacefully on September 29, 2014 with her son, Shlomo Sawilowsky, daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Howie Cahen, vigilantly at her side during her last days. Mrs. Sawilowsky was born in Aiken, South Carolina on December 29, 1930 to Herbert Bruce and Esther Bogoslawsky Ram. She married Jacob Jack Sawilowsky, on December 29, 1948. She was honored as the outstanding woman of the year by the state of South Carolina for the depth of volunteering she was involved in. She played the piano for Sunday School classes, was a dedicated Brownie troop leader, and was very active in the local JayCees, producing many Miss Aiken pageants. Shlomo has posted many of our Mother's achievements on Wikipedia. Volunteering became part of her life fabric even after moving to St. Petersburg, Florida where Mother became the Executive Director of the National March of Dimes. After Mr. Sawilowsky passed away in 1981, she moved to Hollywood, Florida where she was the Executive Director of the Miami Heart Association. Once she "retired" she worked at the David Posnack Senior Center in Cooper City, Florida organizing meals, book drives and various other events for the seniors. Throughout all of this she was also a loving "Bubie" to six grandchildren, Bryan (wife Charlene), Gary (wife Lauren), Mark (wife Jessica), Michael (wife Ileana), Sarah (husband Akiva) and Jack. She enjoyed the antics of great-grandchildren, Ian, Jolie, Alexa, Elaine, Brandon, Aaron and was excited for number seven who is on the way!!!! Mother was the consummate volunteer always willing to rise through the ranks of the organization's leadership. She was an accomplished Parliamentarian, Life Member of Hadassah and her most treasured position was when she served as National President for the Jewish War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary. Graveside Services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Magnolia Cemetery, in Augusta with Rabbi David Sirull officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Jewish War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary, www.jwva.org, 1811 R Street NW, Washington, DC 20009 or to The Homestead Hospice, 127 Sunset Ridge Road, Clyde, North Carolina 28721.

My condolences to the entire family. Though it has been at least 40+ years since I can remember seeing Pat, I still have incredibly vivid memories of both Pat and Jack, particularly of the fun they had playing bridge with my parents. May the games begin again with them all now together!
