Doris Harkins Obituary

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Friday, August 2, 2013. Mrs. Doris Sorrow FIGGIE Harkins, was 89 years old. Mrs. Harkins was retired from sales. She was a homemaker and a member of First Assembly of God. Figgie, as she was known to those close to her, loved cooking for others and listening to good Christian music. Family members include her son: Ronald E. Harkins (Wendy), Hoschton, Ga. sisters: Shirley Prescott, Augusta, Ga, Betty Cawley of Pearland, Tx, and Nancy Myers, of Watkinsville, Ga; and grandchildren: Richard Hunter, Megan Shelton, Benjamin Harkins, Bryan Harkins, and Chelsea Harkins. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters; Laura Belle Sorrow, Nellie Roberta Mapp, and Dorothy Sorrow Battle. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 5th, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with the funeral service immediately following at 12:00 noon in the chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son with Steve Prescott, Nephew of Mrs. Harkins, officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be: Benjamin Harkins, Bryan Harkins, Delmar Pennington, Terry Morrow, Daniel Roon and John Shelton.
