Herbert Gunn

KEMP, Ga. - Mr. Gunn, age 73, of Kemp, Ga. entered into rest, Tuesday, November 30, 2004 , at the East Ga. Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, Ga. after an extended illness. Funeral services will be Friday, December 3, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Swainsboro First Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Blankenship and Rev. Clarence Thompson officiating. Interment will be in the Swainsboro City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Mr. Gunn was a native of Emanuel County and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired with the Civil Service at Ft. Gordon, Ga. and was a retired electronics instructor with Swainsboro Technical College. He was a member of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America. He was a member of the Swainsboro First Baptist Church and also attended Ebenezer United Methodist Ch urch. Survivors include his wife, LaRose Claxton Gunn of Kemp, Ga.; two daughters, Sonya Harris and husband Dave Harris of Statesboro, Ga. and Carmen Graham and husband Stephen Graham of Ft. Hood, Texas; one son, Bobby Lanier Gunn of Kemp, Ga.; two sisters Ida Kea of Swainsboro and Mary Riner of Augusta, Ga.; one brother, Hubert Gunn of Kemp, Ga.; four grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Swainsboro or The American Cancer Society and the Ebenezer Methodist Church.
