Leona Hocklander Obituary
Sun Lakes resident Lea Hocklander passed away peacefully on May 21, 2012, surrounded by her family at the Villa Hospice House in Mesa. She was 85 years old. Born in Iola, KS, she lived in metropolitan Kansas City for many years. She and Austin, her husband of 41 years, retired and moved to Arizona in 1994. Lea will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, caring mother, and affectionate grandmother. Her sense of humor and "tell it like it is" communication style will forever bring smiles to the faces of those she knew and loved. Lea is survived by spouse Austin Hocklander, sister Ramona Benson, brothers Kenneth and Dennis Hill, daughters Leigh Smith (David), Shelby Herndon (Jim), step-daughter Kathy Brackett (Wayne) step-son Kevin Hocklander (Sony), 3 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, and one great-granddaughter. A private memorial to celebrate her life will be held on Friday May 25th. Memorial donations may be made to Americare Hospice, 1212 N Spencer, Mesa,AZ 85203 or to Cedar Sanctuary, 610 Alma School, Chandler, AZ 85224

Hello Austin,
We feel very fortunate to have seen Lea last on May 5th on our last visit. As we told you in the parking lot that day your compassionate care greatly enhanced her life in her twilight years and now she is at peace with the Lord.

Just got the e-mail and Obituary for Lea.
Judy and I offer our thoughts, prayers and sympathy. I know that she is in a better place and that here last years on earth were not always the best. I am sure that you vistis and constant virgil were of great solace to her and we are happy for Lea and you that here ordeal is finally over and she is at rest.
