Richard Winterich Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 7, 2016.
Winterich, Richard W.
Richard W. Winterich, known more commonly as Rick, a senior executive known for his proven record of accomplishment in M&A, IPO's and international operations died on Sunday, December 4th at the age of 61. Rick had more than 30 years experience in executive financial management for companies in the technology, financial and healthcare sectors. Most recently Rick was the President of Epic Medical Solutions since the fall of 2015 following Epic's acquisition of Option 1 Nutrition Solutions where he was the Chief Executive Officer since December 2013. Prior to joining Option 1, Rick served as the Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer of Ensynch, a Microsoft Gold Partner which was successfully sold to Insight. Prior to that, Rick served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Horizon Waste Services where he led its successful strategic divestiture. Rick also served as the Chief Financial Officer, an Executive Vice President and General Manager in several equity investments of the Harbour Group from 1995 to December 1998. Prior to that, he held numerous positions of increasing responsibility during the explosive growth years at Burr-Brown Corporation. Prior to his private career, Rick spent five years in public accounting with predecessor firms of Ernst and Young. He was a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Ohio. He held a Bachelor Degree in Accounting from Baldwin-Wallace College where he played football and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. While Rick was known as an accomplished exec, he also knew how to balance work with play and brought a zest for life to all who knew him. Rick met Lynn Marie Kupec in Brookpark, Ohio in 1971. They courted through highschool and college and eventually married in 1975. Rick and Lynn moved to Tucson, AZ after the birth of their first child, Paul, two years later welcoming Kristin. Rick's work would take the family around the country, having lived in Raleigh, NC, Roanoke, VA and St. Charles, IL before eventually returning home to Arizona. Through the years Rick spent most of his time doating on his soulmate with whom he enjoyed holding hands, long motorcycle rides, a passion for horses and cheering for The Ohio State Buckeyes. Rick was a very proud father and took great pride in watching both of his children excel in sports through the years, having enjoyed watching them win state championships, play soccer at the collegiate level and even became an IronDAD. Both family and friends will remember Rick as an avid storyteller… and he had some great stories. Rick is survived by Lynn, his wife of 41 years, son Paul (Tiffany), daughter Kristin (Dan Corredor), his father Richard P. Winterich (Lucille), sisters Deborah Huffman, Darlene Gannon and Denise Gubanich and grandchildren Lilly Grace and Madison. It is clear from the outpouring of support for Rick's family that he poured himself into others and will be missed by many. A celebration of Rick's life will be held at the family home, Mariposa Farm, on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 12pm - 4pm. The entire Winterich family would sincerely enjoy the opportunity to spend time with you and share your favorite memory of Rick. Some of Rick's favorite food and drinks will be served. Mariposa Farm, 8546 W. Mariposa Grande, Peoria, AZ 85383

I just heard the news, very, very, very sad! Rick was so awesome, I always told him he reminded me a lot of my own dad. I'll never forget the days at Ensynch and all the guidance he gave me. Our birthdays are one day apart, so I never forget his birthday that's coming up! I have missed him and regret not keeping in touch more often. Rest in peace Rick and my condolences to Lynn and family.
