Hasse, James (Jim)
67 of Phoenix, Arizona, peacefully passed away on January 4, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. His fortitude and strength will forever be an inspiration to his family and friends. He was born in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota on February 13,1945 and grew up in Redwood Falls. After graduating from high school, Jim moved to Phoenix and shortly thereafter joined the army and eventually was stationed in South Korea. In his mid-twenties he met the love of his life, Doreen Troisi, whom he married on December 2, 1972. He would often tell the story how it was love at first sight, and after 40 years of marriage one would have to believe his intuition. In the coming years they had two boys, Brian and Brad. A dedicated husband and father, he took great pride in his family and spent many years leading camping and hunting trips, skiing vacations, coaching baseball teams, and just exuding a contagious passion for life. Jim worked in the printing industry for over four decades, first by running the presses, later in sales, then co-founding United Graphic Products in 1977, and in the mid 90's he sold United and founded Eagle Printing Equipment. As someone who loved to talk with and meet new people, sales was the perfect job for him. He was a man with an infectious laugh, a great storyteller, eternally optimistic, a practical joker until the very end, and had a warm spirit that drew everyone in. He is survived by his wife Doreen, his sons Brian (Heather) and Brad (Violette), his brother Kevin (Susan), six grandchildren, and a set of golf clubs. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Roger. Visitation is on Thursday, January 10, 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral service is on Friday, January 11 at 2:30pm. Both will be held at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery, 401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations please be made to the Foundation for Thymic Cancer Research at thymic.org. www.greenacresmortuary.net
