Norma Goad Obituary

Goad, Norma
Norma Goad, age 96 of Scottsdale, passed away January 13, 2015. Norma was born on September 5, 1918 in Toronto, Canada and moved to Phoenix in 1954 with husband Charlie (deceased 1999) and two sons. A daughter was born after they moved to Arizona. The family moved to Scottsdale in 1958. Norma was primarily a stay-at-home mom being involved in her son's and daughter's activities. In addition, she volunteered at the Foundation for Blind Children and the Scottsdale Stagebrush Theater. Although she made the transition from being a Canadian to an American, she always cherished and maintained her Canadian heritage. In addition to her volunteer work, she enjoyed Bridge and Charades with her many friends plus numerous vacations abroad she and Charlie were fortunate to go on. They also enjoyed their summers in Santa Barbara, CA. But the most important part of her life was her family and she was always arranging family activities. Norma is survived by her brother Ken Shields and sister-in-law Hazel Heys of Toronto, numerous nieces and nephews in Canada, sons Larry (Becki) and David (Diana), daughter Christy Foster (Hodge), grandchildren Chris Goad, Kimberley Nickel, Jennifer Beck, Stacy Cyr, Carly Davis, Jeff Foster, Brandon Foster, niece Sarah Gorin, nephew John Corcoran and 8 great grandchildren. A family service will be held at Valley Presbyterian Church.

Bless you Christy & your family too. Sorry to learn of your Mom's passing. To say that Norma was a special lady, would be an understatement. She was so eloquent and expressive with a lively sense of humor. You know we are blessed to have dynamic people in our lives. The space they occupy in our hearts and minds can never be filled when they are gone. Yet they can be a source of inspiration and joy for the rest of our lives. love, Val xx
