Roger Hoffman Obituary

Hoffman, Roger C.
83, passed away July 12, 2015 in Sun City West, AZ. Formerly of Batavia, Wisconsin. Born in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Clarence and Hildegarde Hoffman, Roger is survived by his wife Joanne (Novy) Hoffman and three sons; Michael (Dyan), Christopher (Margaret) and Mark, sister Carol Ballmann (Bill) and four grandchildren. Naval duty was served on carriers around the world. Roger attended the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and UW Milwaukee earning his Master's degree. Roger was an educator for 36 years; first as a teacher and then as a principal in Sussex and Batavia, WI. Retirement brought the Hoffmans to Sun City West AZ in 2001. He belonged to the "Tigers" group, Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Sonoran Arts League and weekly breakfast "meetings" with the Romeos. Roger was skilled on the grill and loved conversing with Oscar and Marley, their pet dogs. An unusual medical condition required constant monitoring. Roger often said he owed his life to Joanne's devoted care. He was happiest working in his studio creating Spirits of the Feather; unique images extolling the mysteries of the ancient Southwestern Indian culture. His works were one-of-a-kind and individually named. Many were shown in art shows in the West Valley and are proudly displayed in many homes in-state, out-of-state and England. Roger was happiest working in his art studio but he devoted many hours to their beautiful backyard and his lovely shrine to St. Francis of Assisi. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 28th at 10:00 am at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City West AZ.

My deepest sympathies to all. He was one of my favorite teacher's at Batavia. He looked to joke around and was a wonderful principal too.

So sorry to hear of his passing, he was my 5th grade teacher at Batavia. I remember the day we did an April Fools joke on him for class. We all had our desks opened up so he couldn't see our faces and when asked to lower them, we all had black mustaches on with curls at the ends! It was classic. I hope he loved it. I feel sad that I did not know him beyond that classroom. The obituary was beautiful. Again, my sympathy.

Roger was a wonderful artist and a special friend. We sill admire his art work that we have in our home. He will be missed dearly by family and friends.
