Metzger, Connie Kay
On July 23, 2016, Connie Kay Metzger, 77, of Apache Junction, AZ left her earthly family and is now resting in the arms of her Savior. The Celebration of Connie's life will be Saturday, July 30 at 10 am at Greater New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 350 West Mohave Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85003. The repast will immediately follow in the fellowship hall. She will be interred at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona next to her beloved husband, Ralph Harry Metzger. Connie was born in rural Corsica, SD on September 2, 1938 to Ernest and Irene (Mulder) Meeter. Her family moved to Humboldt SD in 1950. She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1956. She made Profession of Faith at the Christian Reformed Church in Colton, SD in 1956. She graduated as an LPN from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Mitchell SD in 1961. Connie received her Bachelor's of Arts degree from Grand Canyon College in May 1985 and her Master's in Nursing from University of Phoenix. On June 9, 1961 she married Ralph Metzger in Sioux Falls, SD. They lived in Rapid City, SD and Scottsbluff, NE before moving to Phoenix, Arizona in 1969. She is survived by a son, Ivan, two daughters, Deanna (Tom) Belyan, and Jean (Gary) Hartman, five grandchildren, Collis Newbill, Jr., Brandon (Katherine) Newbill, Alicia Belyan and Samatha Belyan, and Dylan Hartman, three great-grandchildren, Kaleb Vandever, Za'Ryah Newbill and Brycen Ruebel, a sister, Mavis Wahlert; a brother-in-law, Ronald (Jan) Metzger, two sisters-in-law, Marliss Baacke, and Karen (Mel) Pooley and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Metzger, her parents, Ernest and Irene Meeter, her father and mother-in-law, Harry and Cecelia Metzger: her brother, Wendell Meeter, her sister Sherry Meeter and her brother-in-law Alvin Wahlert. The family requests memorials be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.

To the Metzger Family: My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.
