A combined Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 1, at 9:30 AM at St. Francis Catholic Church for Inez T. Etchechury who passed away July 24th in Bakersfield.
Inez Etchechury was born August 27, 1921 to the late Joseph and Catherine Pasquini in Bakersfield, CA, where she lived her entire life. For fifty five years she lived on Ming Avenue and her last residence was Rosewood Senior Living Community. She attended local schools, graduated from Kern County Union High School, and attended Bakersfield Junior College to receive a certificate in office administration. She was an honorary member of the Italian Heritage Dante Association and the Kern County Basque Club, contributing many hours of work and play. Inez always placed family first but had many interests and a penchant for service and visitation to friends and relatives. Inez and her late husband, Maurice, were members of the Greatest Generation as their first three years of marriage were clouded by the separation of war service. She enjoyed being around people including many who dropped by the back door for coffee, conversation or consolation. Her favorite pastime was playing cards, which she knew countless games. Most memorable were the Saturday night poker games with relatives and all their children in tow. She and Maurice had rousing games of the Basque card game Mus, pitting sisters-in-law against brothers. After moving to Rosewood, she was known for the three men (her son and 2 willing friends) who visited every Monday night for 8 years to play Spades. But most of all, she was a formidable Bridge player, and enjoyed putting her partner into 3 No Trump.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice, her son, Paul, a grandson, Michael, and her brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Eleanor Pasquini. She is survived by two sons, James [Linda] and Maurice [Judy], four grandsons and one granddaughter, four great grandsons and three great granddaughters, along with several nieces and nephews who were all loved dearly.
Pallbearers will be: Jim, Christopher, Joey, and Tommy Etchechury, Carl Voss and Tim Ashlock. Honorary pallbearers: Carl Fanucchi, Dennis Fioranelli, Rob Pasquini, John Cauzza Sr., Danny Facciola, Larry Etchechury, Mike Etcheverry and Frank Kuhs.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the St. Francis Church Building Fund, 900 H. St. Bakersfield, CA 93304 or a charity of your choice.

We lived behind this great woman and her family on Ming Avenue. Her gracious hospitality to me as I visited her home to play will always be a sweet memory to me.
