Elana Maria Bonaventura May 17, 1946 - November 28, 2010 Elana Bonaventura was born on May 17, 1946, in Los Angeles CA. She came to live in Bakersfield, where she would reside the rest of her life, only to leave for a short time to attend college in Rome, Italy, where she met her future husband, Sandro Micocci. After college she returned to Bakersfield with her husband and began work. Even though the marriage did not last, she was blessed with a son, James Micocci. She remained in Bakersfield working hard and raising her son, James and caring for her mother, Mary. Elana was active in politics for years and turned her passion to charity fund raising, both here locally and in the Los Angeles area, always working tirelessly for all the causes she held dear and instilling her love of life and passion for giving to others in everyone she met. Elana was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Bonaventura. She is survived by her son, James and her best friend throughout her life, Maxine Mayes and also by the many friends and lives that she touched throughout it. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010, from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. with a Rosary starting at 6:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Chapel, 3700 River Blvd. Chapel service will be held on Friday, December 3, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1515 Baker St. Greenlawn Mortuary www.bakersfield.com/obits
