Tommie "Lou" Battenfield June 24, 1932 - October 20, 2010 Tommie "Lou" Battenfield was born June 24, 1932 to Tom and Edna Durrett in Wagoner, OK. She was the oldest of 7 children. Lou and her husband, Mynet Battenfield married and moved from Oklahoma to California in 1948. They set their roots down in Porterville, CA where they raised their 4 children. In earlier years Lou was a devoted homemaker and mother. It wasn't until after her children were raised that she found her true passion, buying, selling and collecting antiques. She was the owner operator of Lou's Antiques in Porterville, CA. Many people from Porterville, Central California and the Coast, made special trips to visit her shop and do business with her. Although she collected a bit of everything, she had a special interest in collecting roseville pottery, dolls and jewelry. Her knowledge of all collectables went unchallenged. Upon her husband's death in 1998, she closed her shop and sold her home and moved to Bakersfield to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Lou leaves to cherish her memory, her 4 children, Gary and Leticia Battenfield of Arizona, Lana and Gary Grace, Debra and Rick Shonafelt and Doug and Tammy Battenfield all of Bakersfield. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd. Visitation will be on Friday, October 22, 2010, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Greenlawn Mortuary www.bakersfield.com/obits
