Emmit Dalton Obituary

Emmit Edward Dalton 1941 - 2010 Emmit was born in Delano, California on Nov. 29, 1941 and passed away Sept. 12, 2010 with loving family and friends by his side. Emmit is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Bonnie Dalton; sisters, LaVonne Vann, Rose Armstrong and Carol Sutton. He is survived by the love of his life Connie, with whom he shared 33 years of marriage; his children, Katie Nuchols and husband Cliff, Estella Mentink and husband Matt, Eva Crain, Julian Nisperos, Eddie Dalton, Tammy Huffman and husband Junior, Alfonso Nisperos, Denver Dalton, Carrie Asbury and husband Tyson, Kristina LaVerne and husband Rex, and Lydia Dalton; his brothers, Howard Dalton and Fred Dalton; Aunt Faye; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, 22 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Emmit proudly served in the United States Army and was also a member of the Local 460 for 30 years. He worked in the air conditioning and refrigeration trade which he loved very much. He spoke passionately about his job and it wasn't uncommon for people in the field to go to Emmit for advice. He continued to work in this trade for 45 years until his health forced him to retire. Despite his health, Emmit managed to make the most of his free time. He enjoyed fishing but deep sea fishing became a favorite hobby of his and would never miss an opportunity to go. He also enjoyed going to the casinos with his wife, Connie. They often went and win or lose, he would always return with a smile on his face. But his most favorite way to spend time was with his family, especially his grandchildren who were the apples of his eye. Emmit had a great sense of humor and always had a nickname for everyone. If he called you by something other than your name, you knew you were loved by him. He had a great spirit and a loving heart. Everyone who met Emmit was grateful to have known him. He will always be loved and forever missed. His family would like to send a special Thank You to his close friends who continued to visit and call him often. You know who you are. Viewing will be Wednesday, Sept. 15, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Services will be on Thursday, Sept. 16, at 10:00 a.m., at Mission Family Mortuary, 531 California Ave. Graveside services to be held Friday, Sept. 17, at 10:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park, 2739 Panama Lane. www.bakersfield.com/obits

Emmit was a great person, wonderful friend and a joy to be around. I had the pleasure of knowing Emmit for 30 years and spent much of my childhood life around the Dalton's. He, Connie and the entire family always made me feel welcome and part of the family. I will never forget walking through the Dalton door and hearing him say "How ya doin' Katheleen". It is a welcome I will miss. Rest in peace Emmit. You will be missed and never forgotten.

Emmit was such a wonderful man, he was like a father to me, we shared tons of laughs together and a few cries, everyone who knew him loved him and he meant so much to all of his friends and family. He was a very special person one of a kind, so funny, carring and generous, he would give the shirt off his back for anyone who needed it. I will miss all the talks we shared about the grandkids (all the crazy things they would say and come up with), his beautiful Connie, and about his "BIG" and "LITTLE" and how much he loved them. He may be gone but he will never be forgotten, his memory will live on. Im sure he's in heaven having a celebration and as he would say "Boppin to the Wild Thang".

What is said about Emmit above is so true, he was always smiling and a joy to be around. He was a great grandfather to my grandchildren and I want to thank him and Connie for that. My heart and prayers go out to all of the family. Remember him and smile as he would want you to. Love, Theresa (Gma T)
