Gussie Tharp Obituary

Gussie Irene Tharp April 27, 1920 - December 23, 2010 Visitation for Gussie Irene Tharp will be held at Mish Funeral Home (120 Minner Ave.) on Tuesday, December, 28, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery (River Blvd.) on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Our beloved mother has gone to Heaven to be with her husband, Robert; daughter, Vera; her mom and dad; sister, Anna Lee Culberson; and son-in-law, Jerry Umholtz. She is survived by her brother, Hairston Allen of Ohio; sister, Lorene McConnell of Texas; 5 children, Robbie Umholtz; Hairston Tharp and his wife Charlotte; Carolyn Ricketts and husband Jesse; Joyce Wright and husband Jackie; Debra Russell and husband Sam; 14 grandchildren; and her long-time friend, Mildred Scott. She was a loving woman, full of life to the very end. She loved quilting and gardening. She was always ready to go shopping or out for a meal. But, her biggest love was her huge family. She was always here for us. We will miss her smiling face and generous nature. Condolences can be made at www.mishfuneralhome.com. Mish Funeral Home www.bakersfield.com/obits

I was very saddened to hear of your mother's passing. She was a dear lady and loved by us all, especially my mom. We will miss her greatly, but rejoice in the knowledge that she's with your dad now in a better place than we can imagine. My prayers are with you during this difficult time.

How sad I was to hear about Gussie. She was one of my favorite people and a sweeter person I have never known. She will be dearly missed by all of us at Dr. Owens office.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Gussie's family. What a beautiful lady. I was blessed to work with Gussie and Mildred at the Almond Plant for many many years. May God be with you all at the very difficult time.

We met Gussie through our son-in-law Cameron Simms. She was so friendly and kind to us. Gussie hand made me a gingham checked apron that I wear when I bake. She loved our little Xiola Renee. Randy and I will miss her when we vist. May the Lord help the family in this trying time. God Bless you all!
