Adeline Estrada Obituary

Adeline Estrada January 8, 1954 - October 27, 2010 Early Wednesday morning, October 27, 2010, Adeline departed this world to join her father, Manuel J.; her nephew, Gabriel; her grandparents; and her favorite Chihuahua, Charlie, in Heaven. Though strong-willed and determined, she lost her four-year battle with breast cancer. Adeline passed in her sleep, just a few feet away from her mother, Nellie, in the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Karl. Adeline was a graduate of South Bakersfield High School, Bakersfield College, and CSU Bakersfield. She worked at Montgomery Ward, Robinsons-May, House to Home, and then at the Silver Spray Pharmacy. Though she had not worked since 2006, she kept her Pharmacy Tech. certificate up to date. Adeline was a devout Dallas Cowboys fan, rarely missing a game and twice traveled to Texas Stadium to see the Cowboys play. Adeline always enjoyed the holiday season and was known to spend hours in the kitchen baking cookies and cakes for her friends and family. She also never missed the birthdays of her family, sometimes sending more than one birthday card. Adeline was the first child of Manuel J. and Nellie and is survived by Nellie; sisters, Adrienne and Nancy; brothers, Gary, Larry, and Brian; sisters-in-law, Isabel and Cindy; her nephews and nieces, Arlene, Renee, Hector Jr., Mathew, Victor, Steven, Christopher, Stephanie, Katherine, Kristen, Jonathan, Amber, Benjamin, Chelsea, Nicholas, Christopher, and Jacob; and by grandnieces, Lizzy and Jasmine. Church service will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Francis Church, 900 "H" St. In honor of Adeline, her family requests that women get regular breast exams. Please accept my deepest sympathy at the loss of Adeline. Adeline was a good friend to have and a very nice person. Family was always first in her book. Although we were good friends in high school I didn't get see much of her after that except when I'd run into her around town. My first question to her was always "Did you get your driver's license yet?" and her answer always the same....I'm not ready yet! I was looking over my old high school yearbook and saw Adeline's beautiful handwriting. When I read her entry it made me laugh and remember our high school days. Here was Adeline's lines;
Sugar is sweet,
Lemons are sour,
Tortillas and beans
Are Chicano Power!

I will continue to keep Adeline and your family in my prayers.
Love,
Alice (Rodriguez)Desilagua
