I was so lucky to meet and work for Don at South High School as his secretary when he was Dean. I then also was able to work for and with him at West High School when he was Assistant Principal. He was a true gentleman. He was smart, funny, thoughtful and genuine. I respected and admired him as my boss but I loved him like a father. I feel so lucky to have know Don Cauthron and been able to call him my friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you Cookie and all of the family.

My sincerest sympathies. Mr. Cauthron encouraged us all to step out of our comfort zones and write poetry, short stories and more. His gift for teaching gave us the confidence to go as far as our imaginations would take us....thank you and may the Lord's face shine upon you this day

Don watched me take my first steps in life in 1964 and gave me my first job in teaching in 1998. To this day, he was the best boss I ever had and because I admired him so much I wanted to do the best I could. I was blessed to have had him as a mentor, a role-model, and family friend.

I was really sorry to hear about Don's passing. Don was my freshman English teacher at South High in 1965. He was one of those teachers who made a big impact on my life as he was such a good teacher and a good guy. They don't make them much better than Don and he will truly be missed but certainly not forgotten. My prayers go out to the family. Blake Green - South High Class of 1969'

I met Don and Cookie Cauthron in 1964 when Joe and I and Don and Cookie arrived at South High School. We became close friends (our children included). So many memories of cherished times. Then in later years (1970's) I started working for Don as his secretary at South, Highland and West. The friendship developed into total admiration and respect for a wonderful boss. His kindness, honesty, extreme intelligence, sense of humor and the ability to lead was beyond compare. We used to call the years at West our Camelot. Please accept my sincere sympathy Cookie, Theresa, Jennifer and all of the Cauthron family. The planet has lost a good man but the heavens have welcomed a most deserving angel. It is comforting to know that he is not alone.
