Edward Lionel "Ted" Jacques

Edward "Ted" Lionel Jacques was born on June 30, 1940 in Ontario, Canada to Earl Lloyd Jacques and Martha Holland. Ted, his brother Jack (who preceded Ted in death), his sister Greta (survived by Ted) and his parents immigrated to the United States when Ted was approximately nine years old. Ted attended Pomona High School, where he excelled in track and Field. It was Pomona High School that Ted met the love of his life, Linda Joanne Chapman. Ted graduated from Pomona High in 1958 and subsequently married Linda on November 25, 1960. This wonderful union would last over half a century. Ted and his new bride settled in Bakersfield, CA, where Ted pursued a career in the cash-register business. Ted would ultimately own his own business, Independent Business Machines, from which he would eventually retire. Ted became the proud father of three children, Lorinda, Evan and John. The Jacques family would spend their time traveling the United States in the family camper, with "Captain Thunder" at the wheel. Ted was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt. He was equally enthusiastic in teaching his passions to his children and grandchildren.
Ted was outgoing and boisterous. He was never afraid of laughing too loudly or standing his ground too firmly. Ted was known to enjoy a well-made martini and always ensured his guests had a drink in their hands as well. Ted enjoyed spending time at local taverns- Woolgrowers, Rice Bowl and the Red Pepper-socializing with friends and family alike.
Ted was a passionate man and honorable husband. Ted is preceded in death by his heart, Linda and his beloved dog Sadie. He is survived by his children Lorinda(Kent), Evan(Greta) and John(Rebecca). Ted is also survived by 8 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
