Evelyn Crawford Obituary

Evelyn Pearl Crawford 1918 - 2010 Evelyn Pearl Crawford, a resident of Bakersfield, CA passed away November 14, 2010. She was 92. Evelyn was born in Missouri to parents, Charley and Maud Bennett March 2, 1918. She grew up in Poplar Bluff Missouri graduating High School in 1935. She and her parents, two sisters moved to California some 60 to 70 years ago where the family took up residence here in Bakersfield. She subsequently met and married Kenneth Crawford later giving birth to two sons Michael and Jim. While her early career years were spent in the banking field. She soon found her true calling as one of the vanishing breed of stay at home moms raising her two sons. Later when her marriage ended she put this wonderful talent to work by starting and running a child day care center out of her home. She continued to care for children until she retired in 1989. She will be utmost remembered for being a loving and caring mother to not only to her family but to many children that she cared for in her home. She was also a wonderful cook and is remembered for her ability to produce incredible meals even on the most humble of budget. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Maud; her two sisters, Agnes and Wilma; and brother, Evert. She is survived by her two sons, Michael and Jim; grandchildren, Dustin Crawford and Michael Eubanks; brother-in-law, JL Carlock; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to acknowledge the loving and devoted care she received over the past 12 years at Golden Living Center. Graveside services will be held on Friday, Nov. 19, 9:00 a.m., at Greenlawn Southwest Mortuary, 2739 Panama Ln. www.bakersfield.com/obits
