Janice Day-Baker Obituary

Janice Gail Day-Baker December 3, 1957 - November 12, 2010 Janice was born December 3, 1957, in Bakersfield, CA, and departed this world November 12, 2010, in her home town. Janice was preceded in death by her father, Harold R. Day and mother, Dolores J. Day. She was survived by her sister, Sheryl Day; brother, Charles Day, and wife, Laurie. She was also survived by her children, son, Joshua Baker, and his wife, Valerie, and their son, Holden; son, Mitchell Baker, Freddy White, Whitney and husband, Brock George, Benjamin Baker, and Becky Baker. She is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, and cousins and the many lifetime friends she met along her journey in life. Janice was a graduate of North High School where she met many of her life long friends. After raising her family, Janice went back to college and received her Bachelor of Arts and Teaching Credentials. She was a Librarian in the Kern High District for 12 years. She loved to spend time at the beach, antiquing, reading, and with her family. Janice had an infectious personality, a laugh that wouldn't stop and could make any time a good time. Janice's family included anyone who walked into her home; she was a mom to everyone. She loved to be surrounded by family and friends. In the past year she spent most of her time doting on her grandson. She was extremely proud of her children and all they have accomplished. Janice battled breast cancer for over 12 years; she fought every step of the way. She participated in the fight against cancer involving herself and family in many fundraisers and walks. Her infectious personality kept laughter in her fight. Her motto was, "Work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt, dance like nobody's watching!" We all love you mom, now rest and be at peace. A celebration of life will be held today, Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Janice's house at: 13809 San Lazaro St., Bakersfield, CA 93314. Jan was a great person and touched many lives. She will truly be missed and she was loved by so many. Now she can rest no more fighting. Her strength was an inspiration. She is going to be a great guardian angel to all she loved. I am sorry for the families loss. Keep memories close and family closer as they are things that can not be replaced.
Sincerely,
Gina Holden and Family!
