John Wood Obituary

John A. Wood John A. Wood passed away at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday November 30, 2010 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, LA. He was 73 years young. John was a resident of Lakeland, Louisiana, where he and his wife, Aline, moved after retiring from 21 years of dedicated service with Tejon Ranch Company. John graduated from LSU in 1960. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Aline B. Wood; their 3 children, Wendy and Randy Green, John T. and Marisa Wood, Paul and Gretchen Wood; 6 grandchildren; John, Casey, and Jamie Wood, April, Emily, and Andrew Green; step-grandchildren, Steven Michael and Lane Thomas. John had 2 sisters, Sydney Womack and Mary Wood; 2 brothers, Gerald and Michael Wood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney E. and Cecile D. Wood; mother and father-in-law, Louise G. and Harry (Cowboy) Blanchard. John was a lifelong member of the Bakersfield Downtown Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow award recipient for exceptional service. John was a quiet man of great integrity. It was an honor to know and love him. He will be deeply missed. Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lakeland, LA. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be said by the Rev. Greg Daigle in the Church at 2:00 p.m. Memorial Donations may be made to your favorite charity. www.bakersfield.com/obits
