Jose Chavez Memoriam

In Loving Memory of Jose E. Chavez February 14, 1954 - October 17, 2010 Jose was called home to be with our Lord on October 17, 2010. Jose will be remembered for his great love for life. Jose was a generous man and willing to help everyone. He learned to weld at an early age, and it became his passion. Jose was a family man, and loved to make everyone laugh with his great sense of humor. Visitation will be tonight from 5-8 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m., both at Basham Funeral Care. Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. at Hillcrest. You will always be my Best Friend www.bakersfield.com/obits

To my papa everyday is a struggle. I miss you so much. I know you are watching and still taking care of me and the rest of the family. This is what helps me get through my day. Knowing that you are with your parents as well as the children you had little time to know brings comfort. I hope they get to know the father I have known and miss. Until we meet again I love you.

Jose was a good man. I loved him because he loved you. He blessed our lives with his big smile, his goofy sense of humor and his heart of gold that overflowed with love of life, family and friends.My thoughts and prayers are with you, Friend.

I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS SPECIAL PERSON THAT MADE ME LAUGH, SING, AND DANCE.WE ENJOYED THE SAME THINGS IN LIFE.IN THESE PAST YEARS JOSE ACCOMPLISHED MANY OF THE THINGS HE SET GOALS ON. HE WAS A VERY HARD WORKER AND HE WILL ALWAYS BE OUR "#1 WELDER".
I REMEMBER HE ENJOYED TO KID AROUND WITH EVERYONE AND ALWAYS HAD A SMILE ON HIS FACE. I WILL MISS HIM VERY MUCH BUT I WILL NEVER FORGET HIM NOR THE MEMORIES WE SHARED.

When I am dead, my dearest

When I am dead, my dearest,
Sing no sad songs for me;
Plant thou no roses at my head,
Nor shady cypress tree:
Be the green grass above me
With showers and dewdrops wet;
And if thou wilt, remember,
And if thou wilt, forget.

I shall not see the shadows,
I shall not feel the rain;
I shall not hear the nightingale
Sing on, as if in pain:
And dreaming through the twilight
That doth not rise nor set,
Haply I may remember,
And haply may forget.

Tio Jose seemed so scary to me when I was a kid. As I grew older, I learned to love what used to scare me. He and my mom, his sister Maria, were very close. Because of their relationship, I was able to see him often and started our own unique, silly, loving relationship. I knew him well and and am so proud of the person he was. He was protective. He was strong. He was sensitive. I'm glad my daughters were able to experience the "scary tio Jose" and the loving tio I got to know. I miss you already, tio. I love you. Love, Genny.
