Mary Stafford Obituary

Mary Alice Stafford October 24, 1920 - December 21, 2010 Visitation is Wednesday, Dec. 29, from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m., with Graveside Services to follow at 1:30 p.m. at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park & Mortuary, 2739 Panama Lane. Mary was born in a house on 7 mile creek in Arkansas to John and Sarah Reeves. Mary's work ethic began at an early age when she became a midwife to help support her family of three sisters and one brother. At 18 she married James Stafford giving him 4 beautiful children. As the dutiful wife she followed her hardworking husband wherever work took him with the goal of keeping the family together, finally settling in Bakersfield in 1961. In 1963 her legacy continued with the birth of the 1st grandchild followed by 7 others and 12 great grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by her son, Larry and wife Terry; grandchildren, Laura, Joe, Shanna, Susan, Perry, Dana, Jill and Mark; great grandchildren, Joseph, MaKenzie, Delaney, Samantha, Alycia, Evan, Ryan, James, Joshua, Reese, Jocelyn, and Gunnar; former family: Sherry and Cindy; as well as neighbors friends and other relatives too numerous to name. In 2006 Mary moved to Colorado which allowed her to develop a special relationship with her grandson's family. She was also adopted by Mantey Heights staff, many who sat alongside Larry during her final days, telling her they loved her and saying their last goodbyes with gentle kisses on her forehead. Mary will be remembered as a hardworking and strong willed woman. www.bakersfield.com/obits

The front yard, full of people
sitting and chatting away -sipping an ice tea ....No more !

God lifted you back to heaven to complete that mold.
You were almost perfect... a few pieces missing now complete.

You no longer walk amoung us..for your misson here is done.
You were sent down to show us all what a strong willed loving woman should be.

A job well done Mary Alice..... forever rest in peace!

Aunt Mary,
You are finally home! I am so glad to have found you again!
You are where you can rest now! Nothing will ever cause you saddness again.
Life sent you many trials and tribulations and you were such a beautiful soul through it all.
You will be with your three sisters now in heaven. Along with Little Johnnie & Wink & Uncle Joe.
Mama was so saddened and worry so when you left for Colorado.(You two were so close while here on earth )I spent countless hours trying to find you for her peace of mind as well mine. We had no infomation to find you..but thank God you two are together again...Give granny, papa, my mom, and the rest of our family a hug and a kiss.
God keep your soul forever in peace.
I was heartbroken when I found your obit online while searching for a friend of mine. God wanted me to know didn't he?
I love you and I miss You my angel!
I am going to come and visit you today...the day I found that you had left for heaven.
Rose will take care of Georgie for you.
I send you so mmuch Love,
Your niece Joy
