MaryAnn Carrillo Obituary

MaryAnn Carrillo May 9, 1952 - November 12, 2010 Visitation for MaryAnn Carrillo will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles Street) on Thursday November 18, 2010 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. A reception will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church following services. MaryAnn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. She was a charitable soul that showed compassion and mercy towards others. She cared for her family like an angel and a lion. When riled she could make the stoutest sailor blush and make the meanest biker cower. She was the greatest friend you could ever have and a true joy to so many others. MaryAnn was born in Bakersfield, CA on May 9, 1952 and left this earth on November 12, 2010. Married to Leo Carrillo for 42 years, she was the love of his life. She raised 3 children, Daniel, Paul, and Leah. She was the world's most loving grandmother to Micaela. Other family members include mother, Evelyn Virrey; brother-in-law and sister, Kevin and Eleanor Fraley; brother-in-law and sister, Jim and Annette Hall, brother, Steven Virrey; sister-in-law, Karen Virrey Linker; brother-in-law, Arthur Bennie Carrillo, and sister-in-laws, Connie Atherton, Terry Arroyos, Gloria Carrillo; step mother-in-law, Antonia Carrillo; numerous brother and sister-in-laws in Texas and Charise Tidwell. She was an aunt, niece, and great-aunt too many spanning from California, Texas and North Carolina. She enjoyed spending time with her extended family the Virrey, Rosales, Aguirre and Reyes families. MaryAnn loved her family deeply and often was the thread that kept everyone together planning family gatherings. MaryAnn would often brag of her many careers she undertook in her adult life, this was something she would often laugh about. She was an entrepreneur in her own business as a beautician for 30 years, a singer and experimented in many other diverse careers; too many to list. She is preceded in death by her father, Daniel Virrey; brother, Daniel "Jocko" Virrey Jr.; son, Michael Carrillo and 2 other children, her aunt, Bobbie McCloud; mother-in-law, Micaela "Mickey" Carrillo; father-in-law, Julian Carrillo and many other beloved family members. Though she was taken from us suddenly, MaryAnn lived her life well, traveled often and has touched many lives, for that and more she will be sorely missed. God Bless you on your journey home. In lieu of flowers the family has requested a donation be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association in her name. To the family of Mary Ann Carrillo I worked with Mary Ann at Brinks many years ago and always remembered her even though I transferred to another branch. She was such a character and enjoyed being around her. I'm very sorry for your loss but you'll always have the memories of her. My thoughts are with you

We are so sorry for the loss of your MaryAnn. I fondly remember a special wedding gift from the Carillo's, 26 years ago. Beautiful nails from her salon. She loved and accepted everyone and will be missed.

To Leo and family,
I always enjoyed it when Maryann and Leo came to the clinic. Even when she wasn't feeling well she had a smile and a sense of humor. She was a fiesty woman and we will all miss her so much. She loved life and always spoke about her family.
God Bless!! Fresenius Dialysis
