William Marney Obituary

Billy Bob Marney, 73, passed away on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2007. He died at home in Laughlin, Nevada. He was the second of four children born to William L. and Alta Pauline (Sprouse) Marney in Duncan, Stephens County, Oklahoma. The family moved to Arvin, CA, in 1936 during the Depression years and finally settled in Bakersfield. He attended Bakersfield High School. He enlisted in the Army as a tank retriever mechanic with the First Calvary and was stationed in Korea. He worked in the California oilfields in production and equipment sales. He found his niche in Las Vegas in security and became a floor manager. He was employed at the Stardust Las Vegas for many years. He then moved to Laughlin, Nevada and worked at the Colorado Bell and Riverside Casinos before retiring. His greatest pleasure was to fish and hunt the beautiful mountains of Utah. Billy Bob was raised a 32nd degree Mason Libertas Security Lodge 466, Al Malaikah Shriner and was a member of the Bakersfield Scottish Rite. He was preceded in death by his parents and wives, Peggy and Helen. He is survived by his two sisters, Pat Stotler and Neva Johnson; brother, Ronald Marney; daughters, Jackie Bass, Claudette Hulsey, Lisa Wiswell and Dannette Marchant; grandchildren, Crystal Shahan, Aimee Garcia, Christopher Garcia, Derick Blankenship, Jeramy Brown, Janae Hulsey and Juli Hulsey; great- grandchildren, Tae, Lane, Alexis, Reagan, and Aidan; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of friends and a special friend, Peggy Clark. Billy Bob was always a pleasure to be around and we shall all miss him. Viewing will be Sunday, January 6th, from 1-5 p.m. Graveside services are Monday, January 7th, 10:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Bakersfield.
