Shelby Prucha-Mitchell Obituary
Prucha-Mitchell passed away in the company of her close family. She was a beautiful daughter, devoted sister, and gentle soul. Born in Baltimore, MD, she is survived by her parents, Charles Meredith Thompson Mitchell of Baltimore, MD and Ellen Louise
Prucha of Ellicott City, MD; her sister, Kelsey Prucha-Mitchell of Ellicott City, MD; grandparents Joe and Elizabeth Mitchell of Baltimore, MD and Richard and Louise Prucha of Louisville, KY; and her step-mother Jan Hook of Baltimore, MD. She is also survived by many loving cousins, aunts and uncles, step-siblings, and friends. Shelby was a 2006 graduate of Mt. Hebron High School and was a recent graduate of the University of Missouri where she studied journalism and writing. She had recently moved back to Ellicott City, MD.
Services will be held at 4 PM on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the Howard County Conservancy (hcconservancy.org). In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions, if desired, be sent to fund a memorial scholarship in Shelby's name. Checks made out to "Memorial Fund of BUMC" with "In memory of Shelby Prucha-Mitchell" noted in the memo line should be sent to Bethany United Methodist Church, 2875 Bethany Lane, Ellicott City, MD 21042.

My name is Molly McLain. I atteneded Mount Hebron high School,and I was so moved when listening to the story of Shelby and then they announced my name as the winner of the award. She seems like an amazing person and I wish I could have had the pleasure of meeting her. im so sorry for your loss, and so greatful to be the student receiving this wonderful award. It's hard to believe a year has passed but Shelby is often in my heart & in my thoughts. She is my angel on my shoulder on my bad days then a guiding light. She will always be loved.
Shelbs, as a lovely wood nymph, and me, as a flesh-eating maenad. Figures. :)

Shelby and I lived in Johnston at Mizzou together, and we used to go to Mizzou After Dark and be goofy and make silly crafts together with our other friends. Shelby definitely helped me come out of my sophomore shell and get to know other people, and I'm so grateful she came into my life when she did. I'm incredibly heartbroken to hear that she's gone, but I know that she'll never be forgot.
