Joseph Nason Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 28, 2010.
NASON , Joseph Thomas In peace and with grace, Joseph Thomas Nason , beloved husband, father, and grandfather was taken home by God on Sunday, October 24th after a short battle with cancer. Joe dedicated his life to his wife, family, and friends. Generous with his time, attention, and affection, his laughter and love have touched the lives of innumerable others. The third of nine children, Joe was born in Baltimore, MD on July 25, 1938, the son of Charles P. and Anna E. (Jory) Nason who have preceded him to heaven. Throughout his life, he sought to educate himself in as many disciplines as possible. An avid reader, woodworker, sailor, and handyman, Joe found pleasure in all things big and small. He cherished his family and spent his time being with and doing for them. He is survived by his beloved wife and soul mate, Mary D. (Snyder) Nason; his son Joseph T. Nason, Jr., and grandsons Joseph A. Nason and Evan C. Nason; his daughter and son-in-law, Mary A. (Nason) and Andrew J. Lokuta, and grandchildren Benjamin J. and Victoria G. Lokuta. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, and their spouses: Charles E. and Ann L. Nason, Ann (Nason) and Robert W. McMahon, Francis W. and Catherine Nason, James P. Nason, Mary C. (Nason) and John T. Banister, Jeannette D. (Nason) and Walter J. Urbanski, John P. Nason, and Patrick E. Nason, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. We are all richer for having shared time with him. Always seeking to enhance education and better the world around him, Joe has given his body to the Maryland State Anatomy Board. His body will be used for the education of generations of students to come.
Visitation with the family will take place on Thursday, Oct 28 at Saint Anthony of Padua Church, 4414 Frankford Avenue, Baltimore, MD from 2-5 and 7-9 pm . A memorial mass will take place on Friday, Oct 29 at Saint Anthony of Padua Church at 11 am . A memorial site for pictures, thoughts, and memories can be found at http://poppy-joe.blogspot.com. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that interested parties donate to the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD.

I shall go gladly to the Lord,
For He is with me always.

I have been blessed with a loving family
Whom I have cherished,
And whose love I have always known.

We will miss one another only long enough
To realize that we will always be together.

Because of You…
…I learned patience.
You showed me time and time again when I forgot.
…I learned determination.
You embody that word in everything you do.
…I learned to have fun.
Your laugh always reminds me.
…I learned the value of hard work.
You showed me that anything is possible.
…I learned to appreciate.
You showed me the fascinations of the little things around us.
…I learned happiness.
You always find the joy.
…I learned love.
You are loved and always will be.
