Anna Mae Bengtson, 87, of Atwater, MN, died Monday, April 4, 2016, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Her funeral service will be 3:00 pm, Wednesday at Atwater United Methodist Church, with interment in Union Cemetery in Atwater. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. www.hafh.orgAnna Mae was born March 2, 1929, in Rheiderland Twp., Chippewa Co., MN, the daughter of Herman and Hermina “Minnie” Schroeder. She grew up in Raymond where she attended school. As a young adult she lived in Willmar. On November 7, 1947, Anna Mae was united in marriage to Kenneth Charles Bengtson at Raymond. Following their marriage, they moved to the family farm near Kandiyohi/Atwater area. To this union two children were born: Susan and Brad. Anna Mae worked as a home health aide, before retiring after 25 years. Kenneth preceded her in death on November 20, 1996. Anna Mae had been an active member of Atwater United Methodist, having served as Women’s Society President, Sunday school teacher and with the Good Cheer Committee. Some of the things she enjoyed were: gardening, sewing, going to church, camping, baking and spending time with her family.Surviving are her children: Susan Peterson, Brad (and Jill) Bengtson; grandchildren: Jeremy Peterson (and special friend, Sarah); Jennifer (and Chris) Dahlke of St. Louis Park; Kendra (Special friend, Kevin) and Taylor Bengtson of Atwater; great-grandchildren: Stella and Vaughn Dahlke of St. Louis Park; sisters-in-law, Deloris Schroeder and Lonnie Schroeder; and several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. In addition to her husband, Kenneth, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Casper, Anthony, William and Jerry, sisters: Grace Hanson and Katie Isaacson and son-in-law, Gary Peterson.
