I had not seen Bill for a long time but have fond memories of him. He was always there to help not just in my job but with my family when they needed assistance. A big man with a big heart.

Bill Lovett’s Obituary
Billy Joe Lovett
March 21, 1952 – October 18, 2025
It is with great sadness that the Lovett family shares the loss of our fearless leader, Bill Lovett. He passed peacefully with his wife and children by his side. He worked hard, loved deeply, protected all, and feared nothing. Bill built the foundation of what our company is today, and his legacy will continue to guide us. Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace knowing he is now at rest.
Bill was born on March 21, 1952, to Cornes Oboyd and Willie Josephine Lovett, who preceded him in death. In 1971, he married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Harriss, and together they built a life full of love, laughter, and family.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and a father figure to many.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly, and their children: Carrie Lovett-McFalls (Robert) of DeKalb, Shannon Lovett (Kimberly) of DeKalb, Tracie Bushell (Mark) of Texas.
He was a proud grandfather to Madison Bartlett (Nina), Summer Kremnitzer (Blake), Katie Evans, Johnny Lovett, Jessica Lovett, Alexis Dinoffria (Jordan), and Andrew Anderson.
Bill also cherished his great-grandchildren: Jax, Jay, Henley, Mason, Milliana, Adalynn, and the soon-to-arrive Paisley Bartlett.
He was proceeded in death by his siblings Shirley Smith, Glinda Jakobsen, Larry Lovett, Ronnie and Donnie Lovett. Survived by brother, Charles Lovett along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Bill will be remembered as a proud and dedicated businessman. In 1980, Bill & Beverly began building the foundation of what now has become Lovett’s Towing and Recovery in DeKalb, Illinois, where his strong work ethic and commitment to helping others made a lasting mark on the community. They, together, worked tirelessly to build the business from the ground up, creating a family legacy that will continue for generations. Along with his hard work and devotion, he had an unmistakable sense of humor that could light up any room. His quick wit and playful spirit brought laughter to family gatherings and comfort during difficult times. Above all, Bill’s greatest joy came from being “Grandpa.” His love for his grandchildren was boundless, and the lessons and laughter he gave will live in their hearts forever.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
