I will always remember Jimmy playing first base on the Jaycees. Yeah he was a ball player and remember him buying that Corvette at MSU. We went to H.V. Cooper High School in Vicksburg, Mississippi amongst other things. Very saddened to hear this and know he will be missed by his brothers,family and friends.

James “Jim” Van Devender, Sr. passed away at age 69 on Friday, May 12, 2017. He was born January 24th, 1948 in Vicksburg, MS.
Jim graduated Vicksburg High School in 1966. He received his accounting degree from MS State University. He later retired from his career as Chief Financial Officer with Paracelsus Medical in Houston, TX.
Jim also owned and operated Corvette Center of Texas, Fast Times, and Fast Classics from his love of corvettes. He was a member of various corvette clubs, both nationally and locally. Jim was an avid collector of corvettes throughout his life.
In retirement, Jim was able to explore animal rescue. This led him to develop a deep bond with his beloved pet and companion, Kahlua. Jim spent his time with family, talking of corvettes, and reconnecting with childhood friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Van Devender Sr.
He is survived by his two brothers, Jack Van Devender Jr. and Mark Van Devender. He has three children; Lynn Caples, Tom Van Devender, and James “Jimmy” Van Devender Jr.
Jim has four grandchildren; Tanner Caples, Trevor Caples, James “Jay” Van Devender III and Parker Van Devender.
Visitation will be held 11:00am until a Funeral Service to begin at 12:00noon Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, Pensacola, with Chaplain Mike Chappell officiating. Jim’s ashes will later be buried at Lakewood Memorial Park, Jackson, MS.
