William Thomas “Tom” Wickline, Sr., 91, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Pearl Camper Wickline, his stepmother, Ruth Wickline, and his wife of 64 years, Doris Dunn Wickline.
Mr. Wickline served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He was a founding member of Clearbrook Fire Department and Clearbrook Civic League. He was a charter member of Grandin Court Baptist Church. He was recognized by Roanoke County for working election polls for 50 years. He served as President of the Virginia and Roanoke Motel Associations. He retired from the Parkway Motel and Restaurant.
Tom is survived by his daughter Diana W. Williams (John) of Greenville, NC; son William Thomas Wickline, Jr. (Gwen) of San Diego, CA; three grandchildren, William Thomas Wickline III (Aubree), Shannon Wickline and Corey Wickline; a great grandson, Caden Wickline; his brother, Max Wickline (Garnett) of Roanoke, and a host of friends and family.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 16, at Oakey’s Roanoke Chapel with Rev. Charles Krause officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home Friday, December 15. Online condolences may be made at www.oakeys.com.
