Beatrice Campbell Obituary

Beatrice Elizabeth Campbell Age 100, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2010. She was born February 1, 1910, in Battle Creek, Michigan, the 2nd of 6 children born to Dennis and Grace (Hewitt) Struble. Bea was a modern woman living a very accomplished life of employment. She met the gentleman of her dreams, George Campbell and they were married on April 5, 1930. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage. George and Bea became parents to 5 sons; David, Gerry, Norm, Dan, and Brian. George and Bea loved to take trips together, quite often taking a grandchild or two with them. They spent winters in Charlotte Harbor, FL for many years. Bea was very creative; sewing dolls, crocheting frogs, painting ceramics, sketching pictures, painting pictures, and loved to bake cookies for her family. She was an avid Bridge player, and loved gathering with her friends to play. Keeping up with the times was a fact of life for Bea, using her computer to keep in touch with family by emails, and pictures, and writing her family story for publication. Bea's family was first and foremost to her heart. She is survived by sons David (Edna), Gerry (Shirley), daughter-in-law, Wilma, Dan, and Brian (Sharon); 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 23 great- great grandchildren with 2 more due in 2011; nephew Jack Skirvin who was raised as a sibling; many very special nieces and nephews, and cousins, and friends. She is predeceased by husband; George; son, Norman; daughter-in-law, Judy; great-grandsons, David C. Tuckey & Corey Campbell; her siblings, Geraldine, Wilma, Thyra, Robert and Raymond. A celebration of Bea's life will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, at the First Congregational Church of Olivet, with Greg Morrison officiating. Visitation will be Monday, January 3, 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice, Marshall Oaklawn Hospital, or the First Congregational Church of Olivet.

I am not a family member but I know what it is like to lose someone special as Bea. I never met her but would have liked to. I herd so much about her and things she had done and still doing thru mostly Dave,Tim,Steve and Greg. Knowing them all as good Campbells, they had a good many roots. The big summerfest I would hear about and envy. Shelby how sweet, the roots run deep. I am sorry our world lost another very specail person and I wish you all comfort thru this loss.

To all the boys and their families: My sympathies are with you. Your mother led the life of a truly "beautiful lady", both inside and out. I do not remember ever seeing a person of her age that beauty was still very evident. She was not only beautiful, but definetly a "lady".

Dave & Gerry: You two and Norm were more like extra brothers than neighbors and classmates and still are. Please remember, memories can never die - and you have many. I'm sure her journal continued even after her book was published. Take care and may God bless.

GGBB, We're going to miss you so much. You were the only person I knew that I can say lived a truly perfect life. You were perfect Grandma from head to toe inside and out. I'm so lucky that you were my Grandma. I'm also very blessed that you got to know my children. I'm going to miss you so much GGBB, and I hope our family carries on with Summerfest and everything else as you had wished. I'm so glad to say I'm a Campbell and that wouldn't have been possible without you. I love you and our family so much.

"Grandma Bea" will be missed dearly. She sat in front of me at church and was the first person I hugged on Sunday. She has such a wonderful supportive family. You are all in my prayers.
