Richard Johnson Obituary

Richard "Wayne" Johnson Battle Creek Richard "Wayne" Johnson, age 70, died Thursday October 28, 2010 at his home. He was born May 9, 1940, in Kennedy, Alabama to Howard and Irene (Bigham) Johnson. He was a 1959 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. Wayne was employed as a Conductor for the Grand Trunk Western Railroad for 40 years and retired in 1998. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren , and was an avid golfer at both the Riverside and Marywood Country Clubs. Wayne married the former Suzanne Swank November 11, 1970, she survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Johanna (Travis) Raymond of Beaverton, MI, sons; Brent Cobb Jr. of St. Pete Beach, Fl, and Richard Lee (Aimee) Johnson of Battle Creek. Six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, sisters; Marilyn Dukes and Betty Brunelle both of Birmingham,AL, a brother; Lon (LouAnn) Grover of Kalamazoo. Wayne was preceded in death by his sons, Douglas and Brian Johnson. The family will receive friends at 12 noon Saturday at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, 223 N. Bedford Rd, Battle Creek. Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Pennfield High School Athletic Boosters.

Wayne was a great friend & co-worker.He knew his stuff as a Road Conductor at Grand Trunk and as able a local union president that ever swung a gavel.He was a good man and I learned alot from him.He will be sorely missed by many.Sue,our deepest condolences go out to you and the family.Jean & I were in Nashville,TN when Wayne passed on and we just found out about it today-one week later.We will keep him in our thoughts & prayers.Please know that he at peace as God watches over you.Once again,our deepest sympathy. I knew Wayne when we were both in high school and after. He was a friend and co-worker of my then husband. I remember him well and thought he was a kind man. May his memory and God's love comfort you.

Our greatest sympothy to Waynes family. He will be greatly missed he was loved by many. He was a dear friend and a great golfing buddy. He will remain in our hearts with great memories, our hearts are with his family in in this time of sorrow. He is in a better place we will miss you Wayne. God Bless to all his Family and Friends.
